Z CORP., BURLINGTON, MASS. The Z406 3D color printer can create 3-D physical models from digital data; according to the manufacturer, it is three times faster than the company’s previous Z402 system. The new printer can print up to 2.5 liters of finished parts per hour and can print six different parts the size and shape of a regular soda can in less than two hours. The printer can print in six million colors (24-bit) and uses a new Cabot pigment system for fuller, brighter color. The printer is the first product of a cross-licensing agreement between Hewlett Packard and Z Corp. in the field of 3-D printing.
